New Recreational Area Coming to Stackstown Road

Conoy Township has been awarded two separate grants to help transform the property at 738 Stackstown Road into a public recreational area.  This partnership helps remove derelict and dangerous structures along the Conoy Creek and transforms the area into a new ADA accessible public park with parking, accessible walkways, and picnic areas. As part of the project, Conoy Township will not only remove the derelict and dangerous structures but also remove invasive trees & shrubs and replant with native items while partnering with various local organizations. Conoy Township hopes to improve watershed awareness by installing watershed map signs, stream ID signs, and watershed stewardship education signage for residents and visitors and partnering with PSU Master Watershed Stewards to offer education information sessions and planting of the live stake nursery.

Residents and community members wishing to be a part of this project are invited to register for our first two volunteer workdays. Anyone is welcome to sign up and we hope you will come be a part of this project.

These volunteer workdays are being hosted by Backcountry Hunters and Anglers as part of their commitment to support the project.

The first volunteer workday will be help on Sunday, September 29th from 9am-1pm. Volunteers will help to remove invasive plants and cleanup loose trash and items in the floodplain area. Please click here to register to volunteer for Sunday, September 29th.

The second volunteer workday will be help on Sunday, October 13th from 1pm-5pm. Volunteers will help to remove invasive plants, plant native trees and shrubs. Please click here to register to volunteer for Sunday, October 13th.

Conoy Township would like to thank the Lancaster County Community Foundation and Lancaster Clean Water Partners as a partnering agency and the Lancaster County Conservancy acting through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Environmental Stewardship Fund Program through the Susquehanna Riverland Conservation Landscape Initiative (CLI) Mini-Grant Program for their partnerships to this project.
